scopic findingofdermatophytosisof thescalp in theblack race. On thebasis of thedata reported in the literature, itwould therefore seem likely that CH is related to endothrix trichophyton“blackdots”TC inblackchildren.1-3However, the same trichoscopicpicturewasalsoobserved in the Italianwhiteman describedherein. Interestingly, ourpatienthadnaturally curly hair, a characteristic more evident in the black population, whose hair tends to be elliptical in cross section with a variablediameter along its shaft that resemblesa twisted, oval rod. In our opinion, the trichoscopic finding of CH seems to be a variationof the commahair of tinea capitis,3 as describedby Slowinska et al,4 suggesting that it is not a peculiar manifestation in blackpatients but rather a possiblemanifestation related to curly hair. Further investigation is needed to confirm our hypothesis.
